
Optometrist
Dr. Nicholas Bixler has been practicing optometry in and around the area for the last 12 years. While growing up, he lived in Sacramento and attended the Hegins-Hubley Elementary School up until 1st grade. His family then moved to Elizabethville, where he graduated from the Upper Dauphin Area School District in 2004. Dr. Bixler attended Bloomsburg University and majored in biology and chemistry. Thereafter, he attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (Salus University) and graduated with clinical honors in 2012.
While at optometry school he met his wife, Dr. Irma Bixler. He practiced at many locations throughout his career, including retail, group, private practices, and nursing homes. He worked in Richmond, VA, and Hanover, PA, before moving back to the area. Then he worked in Millersburg for seven years before he and his wife had the opportunity to purchase Dr. Match’s office.
Dr. Bixler specializes in Ocular Disease and Primary Eye Care. He has training in treating and managing complex ocular pathology including urgent ocular problems. Throughout his career he has learned many skills to treat and diagnose a plethora of eye conditions in patients of all ages.
Dr. Bixler plans to provide the same high caliber care you have come to expect from Dr. Match, while keeping a personal and relatable experience. Dr. Bixler makes it his priority to address patients concerns and explain conditions in a way that is easy for patients to understand.
Dr. Bixler has three children and enjoys being involved with their activities, which are numerous. He also enjoys many hobbies in his free time such as hunting, winemaking, church activities, and
gardening.
